Why We Started a Content Day (Kontent Day): Building a Creative Community in Boston’s North Shore
Discover why Korrfocus Studio hosts Kontent Day every other month, bringing together Boston photographers, models, and content creators for networking, collaboration, and professional studio access.
When Kiara and I opened Korrfocus Studio, we thought we were creating a place where people could book photoshoots and videos. After operating in two locations over the past two years, we realized people were looking for something more. They weren’t just looking for a studio they were looking for a place to get started.
We met aspiring models who didn’t know any photographers, photographers who wanted people to practice with, and creators who wanted to make content but weren’t ready to commit to a full production. If you think about it, getting into content creation can feel overwhelming. Between finding a studio, coordinating a team, and planning a shoot, the barrier to entry can be high.
That’s why we created Kontent Day.
Our goal was simple: create a low pressure environment where anyone could experience working in a professional studio, meet other creatives, and leave with new content and new connections. Whether you’re brand new or have years of experience, everyone has something to contribute.
One thing we learned quickly is that community isn’t built from a single event it’s built through consistency. That’s why we host Kontent Day every other month.
For each event, we paint a brand new custom backdrop and encourage everyone to wear either complementary or contrasting colors. We found this gives people a creative starting point and takes away some of the stress of figuring out what to wear. We also kick off the day with a live DJ, giving everyone time to mingle before photographers and models naturally pair up to create together.
One of my favorite parts is seeing complete strangers leave as collaborators. Watching people exchange ideas, build confidence, and continue working together after the event reminds us why we started this in the first place.
